Samantha Whetstone
Samantha is an ICF ACC accredited coach and consultant with 15 years’ experience working with top tier global law firms and multinational organisations.
Before becoming a coach, Samantha was an international corporate, finance and general commercial lawyer, notably with Ashurst, Hogan Lovells, BNP Paribas and Anglo American, and involving work principally within the finance, energy, infrastructure and commodities sectors. She therefore has a strong understanding and first-hand experience of the nuances of working within law firms, the legal profession and the above sectors in general – including the challenges that are often experienced both as an individual and from the perspective of organisational or team performance. With over five years of in-house legal experience, she is also very familiar with the relationship dynamics among in-house teams, external counsel and internal stakeholders, as well as the differences between typical private practice and in-house mindsets and approaches.
Samantha’s coaching expertise includes, in particular, managing career phase transitions, leadership development, cultivating strong working relationships, developing increased confidence and adjusting to in-house and overseas secondments. She also has specialisms in analytical psychology and the psychology related to expatriation. Clients value the combination of her structured and pragmatic approach, which draws on her commercial experience, and her deep empathy, cultural sensitivity and intuition. She focusses on assisting clients to develop increased self-awareness, address unconscious behavioural patterns or mindsets, consider alternative perspectives, and make lasting, sustainable changes.
Samantha has a unique international profile, having spent time living in London, Singapore, Zurich, Paris and Lisbon and working across various geographical markets. She now operates out of London and Lisbon, and she is proficient in several European languages.
